Dr. Irfana Begum

Dr. Irfana Begum is a science communicator. She completed her PhD from CSJM University Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She has been engaged in Science Communication for over two decade. Her association with the masses through hands-on science communication has brought changes in the lives and thinking of public residing in diverse locations across India. She has developed excellent resource material in for Rural students and has particularly made a mark in the Tribal communities located in remote and backward/aspirational districts with her grasroots research and skills.


Dr. Irfana has, during the last two decades organized numerous science communication programs like Teachers’ Training, Disaster Management Programme, Developing Activity Books , Activity Kits, besides engaging with society. She is specifically credited with development of science festival using interesting, informative, and innovative infotainment formats. The program developed by her are designed & developed as extracurricular activities and as such are not a part of syllabus of schools.


It would be worthwhile to mention here that she has authored several research reference books, developed 26 Handbooks on different topics of sciences, translated 4 popular science books edited 5 popular science book, and delivered scores of popular talks on radio on various topics, besides numerous interviews. She was Associate Editor Urdu monthly magazine Tajassus and part of Editorial board Hindi monthly Bachho ka Inderdhanush. She is part of Editorial board International Journal of Advanced Research in Biology and Biotechnology.


She received Nishan-E-Sir Sayyed for Urdu Science communication, National award for song and slogan writing and young story writer award.
