Conference Date -- February 1-2, 2024
In celebration of our first ten years, we will be hosting the conference around the theme of “Digital for Good†from the South Asian media and cultural studies’ perspectives. We are accepting papers, presentations, and posters on a rolling basis until September 30, 2023. We welcome diverse perspectives, methodologies, and topics. We encourage scholars working in relevant areas to attend and present their work in interactive virtual/hybrid paper sessions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:Â
Digital transformation of the South Asian mediascape (e.g., popular culture such as movies and TV, news, art, online streaming platforms such as Netflix, Twitch and others)Â
Digital individuals (e.g., online social groups, social interactions, gaming, influencers, and others).
Digital knowledge (e.g., alternative digital media, fake news, misinformation and disinformation and others).
Culture and data (e.g., generative AI such as ChatGPT, algorithms, big data, surveillance, and others).
Digital media for an inclusive and sustainable South Asia (e.g., pro-social, pro-environmental, and political movements; minorities and digital activism, hate speech and others).
